The Tube Tubb Metal Detecting Sieve was brought to market due to the will and vision of T.J. Smith and Paul Anthony.
T.J. Smith served in the United States Navy from 1972 through 1976. The majority of that time was spent in Vietnam.
Paul Anthony served in the United States Marine Corp from 1964 through 1969 as a Photo Electronics Tech.
Their time in the military made such an impact on their lives that they wanted to find a way to give back to their “Brothers in Arms”.
A portion of the profits from Tube Tubb will be used to create an entrepreneurial fund for veterans.
T.J. Smith and Paul Anthony have over 100 years of metal detecting experience between them, on land and in water. Yes, they’re old. 🙂
The “boys” met when an article was published in the Daily Sentinel about how Paul had found a class ring from 1938 and was looking for the owner. The paper made the mistake of reporting that he found it on 4th Street and it was 18 inches down rather than 18th Street at 4 inches down. T.J. contacted Paul because he wanted to know what kind of metal detector he had that could find a target at 18 inches deep! And the rest is history. The two became fast friends and started going metal detecting almost daily as long as the weather allowed. And they are still going strong. They talk, giggle, and scheme, just like young brothers. Paul’s wife calls them “The brothers from other mothers”.
The Tube Tubb was originally thought up by T.J. when he was hunting in deep water one day, as a better way to sift through all the debris to find his targets . Both, Paul and T.J. had homemade floating sifters that were very problematic and tended to be more trouble than they were worth. Together they worked out every detail of the perfect flotation device for water hunting and the Tube Tubb was born!
